1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Lilac Venus mobile application, website, and related services ("Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

When you create an account, you confirm that you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

2. Description of Services

Lilac Venus provides a personal safety platform that connects users with verified responders in emergency situations. Our Services include:

• SOS alert functionality
• Connection to verified responders
• Emergency contact and trust network notification
• Location sharing and safety plans
• Evidence Lock Box with encrypted storage
• Guardii AI safety companion features (subscription tiers may apply)
• Safety analytics and insights
• Institutional seat programmes for schools and universities

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use our Services. If you are under 18, you must have parental or guardian consent to use our Services. By using our Services, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.

4. User Responsibilities

As a user of our Services, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Use the Services only for legitimate emergency and safety purposes
• Not misuse the SOS feature for false or malicious alerts
• Keep your account credentials secure
• Respect the privacy and safety of other users, responders, and contacts
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations of South Africa

5. Subscription and Payment

Certain features require a paid subscription (SOS Basic, Lilac Individual, Safety Circle, or institutional seat plans). By subscribing, you agree to pay the applicable fees shown at checkout. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually as selected through Paystack.

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the app or Paystack manage portal. Payment failure may trigger a grace period during which safety features remain available, as described in our subscription terms.

We do not store your full payment card details; payments are processed securely by Paystack.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with POPIA. The Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.

7. Limitation of Liability

While we strive to provide reliable safety services, Lilac Venus is not a replacement for emergency services. In life-threatening emergencies, always contact the South African Police Service (10111) or emergency medical services directly.

Lilac Venus shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use our Services, except where liability cannot be excluded under South African law.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of South Africa.
